---Yes, i looked through all the search stuff---
ok, heres my question. I had my a/c redone last year (new everything, except condensor and evaporator, conversion too) and it working ok. i just wanted to know if i was to install an electric fan in front of the condensor, behind the grill, if that would help any with the a/c system, and the load it puts on the engine (my overall goal/wishful thinking is to make the a/c work better and blow colder). On a 90 degree day, my a/c temp is about 60-65 degrees. is this normal or optimal? im just needing some useful info.
By the way, im keeping my fan/fan clutch OEM, so this would purly be an aux. fan.
Thanks!

nothing wrong with helping remove excess heat. ... although it's doubtful it will significantly improve AC performance THAT much, if at all. 30 degrees drop from ambient ain't out of line, to start out with anyway (perhaps not optimal, but not likely to improve with a fan). Once the car is cool, you should use MAX AC, recooling already cool air... you could pobably get yourself nice and cool on a longer drive. Should you? Like I said, nothing wrong with it. If you do report your findings before and after....mybe you'll start a trend.

I would invest in a larger condensor and evaporator to help the efficiency of the system. also, maybe the shop that did your conversion left air in the system? before you buy anything, i would suggest that you evacutate the system and recharge.

so, aldive, would this be a good idea/investment?

I see no neeed for it with a properly functioning AC system.

I would have the AC throughly checked.

Good luck.....

I had an air conditioning problem that sounds similiar, it just didn`t seem to get cold enough to the point that I had it on full blast continuosly. This was after the retro-fit and an overhaul of the old system.
Just before I went to Moab I pulled my old rad out because it Always seemed to run a little hot when I was on a long hillclimb.

Wouldn`t you know it there was a "pyramid" of mud, leaves and scum on the radiator that I could only see once the rad was completely out. ( the condenser hid it from view)I had even tried to spray water in between the condenser in case some scum was in there but couldn`t get it all out I guess.
It looked okay from the outside but I`m tellin ya there sure was a lot of crap caught in there. When I went to Moab I actually had to turn my AC down or off several times because it works awesome now.

I would suggest taking your rad out and looking at both the condenser and rad surfaces you can`t see, If you clean alot of crap out try the ac for a while after that, I know my airflow was at least restricted by 1/3rd.
Its really easy to pull the rad out, just a couple/few bolts and some hose clamps is all. It`s worth taking a look.

-I guess I have a backup rad now too.

If the ac still sucks, yer on yer own!

ps, I don`t really believe an extra fan would force a whole lot more air through there than is supplied through the stock fan and airflow when driving...
