Electric fan Vs Stock Fan

This is another mod that I am considering. From what I understand getting an electric will increase your gas milage and net a few more hp. However, it is all so my understanding that electric fans suck for offroading, which is something I am slowly getting into.

My 2nd question has nothing to do with the fans but as far as offroading is concerned, is extra hp really that big of a deal because I try not to do any driving in mud. Is a winch a good consideration and what kind/rating should I go with for a winch?

I electric fan is very useful if you have a snorkel. If you have a switch you can turn if off when entering a waterhole. If you don't the fan blades can be thrown into the radiator. I wish I had a winch, go for at least a 8000 lb.
 






I decided for what I do and the min gain you get going to electric its a bad idea. Come to think of it I had one on my escort and that thing crapped out and my car over heated and it was like 100 out.

However, do they make a lighter weight fan that replaces the factory fan? I can see that being a much better choice.
 






i'd be interested in an electric fan if the pcm could control it. the pins are probably there, but if they are active is another thing.
 






Did not noticed until I looked at it that the stick fan is plastic. Funny thing to day this guy I work with put a flex fan on his explorer used the wrong size spacer and now theres all kind of cool colors on the ground and everplace else. Spend mosy of the day laughting my ass off about it.
 






did he know that you have to use a reverse rotation fan on the serpentine belt setup?
 






Don't know if he did or not. This is the same guy that went out the gate to get some smokes walked back moments later because his car was out of gas, he reason was well the gas station was like 2.49 f that I rather walk. So my guess is he had no clue.
