So I was pulling out my instrument cluster to replace a burned out bulb and when I pulled off the instrument cluster plastic trim cover i noticed on the right hand side was a 6 pin connector just plugged into the back of the cover.

What is this plug for?

the truck is an 01 XLS 4.0 auto tranny 4x4

Thanks

Anyone have any ideas at all?

Maybe I need to describe it better?

???

Not a big deal just kinda curious to what purpose it has...

I havent the foggiest idea. Pics might help

is it the dummied 4wd wires like on a 2wd or awd?

Didnt think of taking any pics when I had it apart...guess its as good an excuse as any to pull it back apart and get some white face gauges to go in it lol I also dont have an account on any photo hosting sites yet but can gladly email a pic to someone that does to post it up when I do take the pic.

I did note the wire colors:

reading it left to right, top to bottom, looking directly into the plug:

red/black-----purple/red-----blank/empty

black-----------black-------green/purple

sorry for the extremely crude layout

I didnt think of throwing a test light to any of them either.

i remember somewhere back in the day you could order an aftermarket or OEM switch to disengage your transfer case for towing behind a motorhome if I remember correctly...might this be the plug it is hooked to?

I forgot to mention this was a Canadian truck in case it may be different then the US version in this aspect
