I am sorry about the length, but I figured details will only help.
Ok, so let me just give a rundown of all the basics. 97 ford xploader sport (motor was swapped, uses r12 so might be pre-97), runs rough at idle and wreaks of gas when ever on. bought the truck 2yrs ago for cheap, been fixing things as they go wrong (college kid w/ a sick mother and I pay everything). anyways today I turned the truck on (it is now florida's ver of winter) the truck acted like it wanted to shut off, so I kept my foot on the gas. Let it heat up, put it in drive and started on my way home, when I came to a stop the truck wanted to shut off.. I got onto the highway and tried to accelerate and stuck at 2k rpms and 50mph. I played with the pedal a little no change, so I tired increase slowly till the pedal was on the floor. after a few (20 maybe 30 secs) I got the higher rpms and the truck shifted, but I was coming off the highway. so as I took my foot off the gas, I saw the battery light come on. I turned the car back on (from neutral) and proceeded foward. after that the truck seemed to have hit a wall, would not go past 50 @ 2k rpms. to make things slightly more interesting I could hear the motor was suffering (more than usual, I had the codes read at a autozone once and I am miss-firing almost all 6. it has run this way for just about 2yrs+) but now there was a stronger misfire. now with the truck parked, I can rev it and things sounded as they did. though once I put it in drive and move maybe 30 feet I hear a :clunk: and it goes back to pushing the gas to floor and still going no where. lastly, there was significant smoke coming from behind (when I first pulled off the highway) I saw it through the driver side rear view (it was dark, but it looked white/grey note: I did pop the hood whe I first pulled over (had no light) but I would say moderate smoke was coming out. After I drove it from the median to the parking lot It did look like it let more smoke (this was light and I almost didn't notice) from where the coil packs sit (not directly) but I felt that is where the source must be. There is a strong burning smell (not sure, smells a little electrical). Also I did recently mix gas to likes of chevron and racetrack (majority chevron) but I did fill up at 3 gas stations recently (chevron full tank, race track quarter, and then another quarter of chevron). by the way december/january I replaced wires, plugs, and coil pack. also checked tranny, oil, and coolant they are up to par on levels.
