electrical problem with dash lights

Hi folks,

I searched this question a bit in the forums here and found some similar issues but nothing that sounds quite the same. Here's the deal: a couple weeks ago my gf took my 97 Ex Sport to work, and called me when she was supposed to come home to say the car cranked but wouldn't start. I drive out, try it and it starts right up. Ever since then it has started every time, but now the dash lights flicker on and off repeatedly when driving with the headlights off, but everything's fine with the headlights on. There is a clicking sound that accompanies the lights blinking.

Before I go pulling the dash apart, any thoughts or previous experience with this? I'm guessing the problem lies with the headlight switch.

On a probably unrelated note, the dome lights don't come on anymore when you open the driver door, but do work with the passenger door. Can I just spray some WD40 into the little hole in the door where I think the sensor is?

Thanks!

Hmm.. I don't have any past experiences but this is definitely an electrical problem... Possibly your battery or alternator going bad but then there's that click noise... Have you checked your dimmer switch? Mine's a little odd too but just like you if I mess with it it clicks and the lights flicker, check that, try putting it all the way up til it 'snaps' (gentle snap, don't force it or something it's supposed to do it on its' own) into the highest point and then down until it 'snaps.'
