Ok so I have been messing with this ebrake since I put the lift on.............POS.. Anyways I have been thinking of different things I could do for an ebrake instead of the stock style.......any ideas? My first and still considering thought is using a brake line lock but then I'm going to have to wire the e brake light to come on when its engaged (stupid safety inspection rules).......anyways I know there have to be other ways or thoughts on this so I thought I'd throw it out there and ask for opinions.

I'd say the stock parking brake is the best option, both for design and cost. You can get all new hardware for the drums for very little money, just a few bucks. You can get new aftermarket cables cheap as well. There's very little reason to chuck everything and try to start from scratch if you're just having trouble figuring it out.

With a lift, I'd say the best thing to do is just lengthen the cable, either with a custom middle cable setup, clamping/binding two cables together, or just using a turnbuckle as a tensioner/extender.

Make sure the cables are sliding smooth and all the parts are working as they are supposed to, rusted cables and stuck or worn parts can hinder a system that otherwise works.

Make sure you adjust the brake with the vehicle on the ground. If you try to do it on a lift, the cable is extended and teh adjustment wont be correct.

You shouldn't need a longer front cable for anything. If you do a body lift, the spot where the front cable goes into the body mount bracket needs to be relocated. When you do a suspension lift, you can just make the middle cable longer with cable clamps, turnbuckles, or whatever custom contraption you want to use, or even just get a custom length middle cable.

I just got my ebrake working, "rigged", but working good. same problem, lift and broke front cable, but once i got it working, pay attention the rear part of the line. my ended up rubbing my wheel pretty bad, problem solved buy some holes drilled and bolts put in to guide it. just my 2 cents
