Hey guys, so after discovering a rod knock in my motor, I went ahead and pulled it and did complete tear down........everything in the bottom end was GONE in terms of bearings......scraped the whole thing....what a shame.....
anyway on to my question...

I got a .30 bored out 289 block from a local guy up here.....

the cast number above starter location reads as

C68E-6015E no typo's here it is an ( 8 ) I have triple checked

I have looked and looked and looked.....
I have found that the block was cast in 66 but the 8 ????? wth ???
the date code is 7e4 .... which is 1967 may 4th right ???
Any help with what the hell this block is or came from is great !!!

Is it a v6?

no, my thread states it is a 289 block ( v8 )

I would say its a A.what are you putting this in?how many bolt is it?
Im sure you have seen this but looks like things get crazy in certain years
http://www.classicmustang.com/casting_numbers.htm
and the reason i asked if it was a v6 is because the 248 is a v6 and didn't know if you thought you had a 248 v8 thinking the.30 over made it a 289.never know with some people

ahhh, ok, yes I am no dummie, LOL.... the block is a 2 bolt main, 6 bolt trans mounting..... I have seen that site and does not help any.....
C68E-6015E.....according to one site the 8 is for capri but this block is way to early for a capri.......

I have already built it up and installed it into my 92 explorer.....runs great only has about an hour and half run time, just need to get the t.v cable for my A.O.D so i can drive it without blowing up my tranny.

Hahah yea i just went back over some of your threads, prob should have done that first.didn't mean any disrespect, posted from my phone and just saw you had a first gen and low post number;) right on,you still have the 347 also?seems like the blocks that came from Windsor in those years can get a little tricky.i like the old 289 tho.old man had one in a fairlane and it flat flew!!

can not wait to dive this thing again, but I am really determined to figure out that 8.....I want to know where this 289 came from or out of.

still waiting for an EXPERT to help with this number 8 in the 3 digit of the block cast number......I can not find any info on it.

again block casting number is c68e-6015e ???????? 289 v8 block date code 7e4
