Engine Compatability

OK guys heres the deal. A buddy and I are thinking about parting out an Explorer but he has a 95 Ex while mine is a 93. Mostly he needs body and interior parts while I'm looking for drivetrain components. Mostly the engine. My question is which engines are swapable... plug and play basically. If I can swap in a 1997 4.0 with 85000 miles on it I'll feel better than if its a 1995 engine with 140000 miles or even a 93 and even higher mileage. I realize I may have to switch a few external parts. Thanks for any help

If the 95 is a pushrod engine it is the same as the 93. 95 was also the last year for the EEC-4, OBD-1 system. So most of the components are the same as your 93.

If its a SOHC engine, there will be alot more to it, like wiring harnesses etc.
