Hi,
I have 2 question about Ford Explorer.

1) The truck's engine dies out if I don't add some gas. What could be the problems?

2)

coolant, i have a small coolant leak also.
does it kinda start revving up and down when no gas on the pedal?
does it do it even worse when the airconditioning is on, or openeing up power windows?
i know mine does and i have found it to be the alternator.

My truck's engine is dying right after I start! Why ?
It doesn't rev up or down, it just dies. :|

And what the tranny cooler does?

Your problem could be fuel delivery related or a vacuum leak. It could also be a dirty IAC. How does it run if you keep your foot on the gas?

When I press the gas it runs good, but I don't remember when it dies exactly, cause my friend was testing it out and I haven't asked him about that. But I know one thing for sure - it doesn't work when I do nothing, like stand by or unladen mode or something idk how to say it I'm not a native english speaker. . :(.

EDIT:
oh and what does IAC mean ?

You could try resetting the idle, I have had to do this on other fords that were doing the same issue.

Oh yeah this is the right word - IDLE :D :D

How to understand by resetting the idle ?

And what is tranny coolant? What kind of fluid/liquid flows there?

the "check engine light" or "cel" is the light you see in the right side of the picture
(this light will be in a different location on your gauges)

is that light turned on?
also what is your native language? i may be able to help by using a translator

If you have a check engine light you'll want to pull the code before you do anything else and get that fixed.

My native language is Russian.

I don't know if that light was turned on, cause I wasn't the one who was starting the truck.

I don't know much yet, but I'll get all the info you need as fast as I can!!!

EDIT:

And where is that check engine light located in the 1st Gen Explorer '91 ?
EDIT2: I found the light.. :)

Here try these steps.

NOTE 1: The Ford owner's manual directs that the idle program be relearned following any service when the battery has been disconnected. To do this, it states that the engine should be started and allowed to idle for the (approximately) 70 seconds without touching the gas pedal. Adding the accessory loads ensures that the EEC and IAC valve can accommodate the additional air flow requirements and still maintain the programmed idle speed.

NOTE 2: It is preferable that the car be driven immediately after setting the idle programming. While driving, allow the coolant temperature to rise to the normal range and run the car through its entire performance range.

Idle Speed Program Reset Procedure
-----------------------------------------
1) Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
....Optionally, disconnect the keep alive memory (KAM) connector in the small
....wire also landed to the negative battery terminal.
2) Wait at least 30 seconds.
4) Reconnect the KAM connector or negative battery terminal.
5) Start engine normally (never press the gas pedal).
6) Allow the idle speed to settle for at least 30 seconds.
7) Within 70 seconds of starting the engine, concurrently apply all accessory loads.
....a) Climate control to MAX A/C.
....b) Headlight switch ON, brights ON.
....c) Turn steering wheel slowly ~1/4 turn side to side.
....d) Press brake pedal.
....e) Automatics only: shifter to DRIVE.
8) Do not turn off engine for at least 5 minutes.

5) Start engine normally (never press the gas pedal).

but it the engine will die right after i start it, how could I wait 30 seconds if it doesn't work even 5 seconds on idle?

do the first few steps then try, if that does not work check the Idle Air Control and the Mass air flow meter. They both could cause no start issues.

ok will be done, it's just the truck wasn't started 2 or more years.

I would make sure to clean the mass air flow meter along with anything else.

And what the tranny cooler does?

Охладитель передачи по-существу охлаждает жидкость передачи по мере того как он проходит перед радиатором. Такая же принципиальная схема хладоагент пропуская через радиатор.

"The transmission cooler basically cools the transmission fluid as it passes in front of the radiator. It is the same concept the coolant flowing through the radiator."

Babelfish is a wonderful thing ;)

could this problem be spark-plug related?
