part of my plan for sport truck dominance involves a little engine dress up.

what can i do other than polishing or powdercoated my intake, making a pretty air box, and painting a lot of the little black plastic pieces.

also- should something special be used to paint those pieces since its hot under there?

what have you done and what would you like to see?

I'd look through the photo galleries at fordtruckworld.com. A lot of those F150 guys have some pretty over-the-top engine compartments. You can at least get ideas from that... :D

if you paint anything, go ahead and use engine paint. might wanna check out some different colored wiring loom to replace stock black loom. i recommend againts polishing the upper intake. too much trouble, and in a few months it will look like crap and need to be polished again.

what would you do to it then?

we were thinking that powdercoat would be cool? but what color

Blue would look good I think. Also, just some random billet parts always look good IMO.

yeah, we were thinking blue- particularly if i can get it to match the blue that will be on the truck in the spring (if you don't know its gonna have blue flames and a blue front end)

but i don't know if they can match powdercoat that well.

Pick one or two theme colors, and paint/powdercoat pieces those two colors as needed. Maybe a little billet thrown in. Do those things plus keep everything clean and you'll be set.

And use the mud flap lady as much as possible.

Painting the engine bay with body color would look good but since yours is white, it might not be such a good idea; oil loves white paint. Dark blue would work well. One trick I learn is that you could buy those small chrome bolt caps at JCWhitney for cheap. They come in different sizes. It's a perfect finishing touch once you have painted the piece.

If you're podercoating the intake, are you going to do the same to the 5.0 emblem on it? I think it should be polished and put back on top.

i'd say no wire loom, been there done that, i think it makes for too much of a ricey look.
