from the ebay auction:

" For 1997 -99 applications, the original valve covers, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, computer and wire harness are required!Simply remove these accessories from your ORIGINAL 4.0L SOHC engine and install them on this BRAND NEW 4.0L SOHC engine."

so if this is right you should be good to go

yea i read that but i dont always trust what they say in ebay auctions.

im worried about the vacuum lines and stuff... and actuall now that i think about it- it wont work because of my snorkel set-up :(

i dont think it will matter because you already have to swap your intake onto the new block so the intake should be routed exactely the same.

yea so basically id be using the bottom half of the engine? cause id have to swap my valve covers too.

what about the wiring/sensors for the EEC? And im assuming i can reuse their ignition wires and module but id just relocate that too right?

*the thing is, i have 1 day to put this in when i get it.. otherwise i have to wait a week to finish it, so i want it to go smooth. (sundays are my only days "off", assuming im not loaded with homework)

from what it sounds like you would just swap the top half of the engine and then plug everything into your current harness and be good to go.

true. i just emailed the guy giving him my story and asking for a total price.

hopefully if this is affordable and his shipping is quick i can do it next sunday.

what would a good price be?
a Jasper reman engine was $3200 with a core... i thought that was very expensive...

oh and one last thing: if i get that engine, will i have to worry about the timing chain tensioner recall?

yea, i was hoping for around 2K shipped.. but they have a new OHV for sale on there with a buy-it-now of $1999.99 , im assuming the SOHC's are more

I feel your pain...On Saturday, my little four-banger daily driver ate a valve and so the head and block are toast. I can see the whole wrist pin clearly through the hole in the piston.

Anybody want to buy a "slightly" used Honda CRX? It just needs a new radiator, I promise :D

yea.. it sucks. lol but mine is my daily driver and i commute 100miles/day to school and then home for work. The real pain is comming from sleepin on my friends dorms floors. my "momma's" going away on business next week so if i dont have my engine in this weekend im going to get a permit for her car and use that next week... hopefully it wont take much longer than that to get an engine.

My friends dad deals with jasper so he's calling up today to get me a better price. hopefully that works out and ill be puttin in a worked jasper SOHC... lol then i gotta wait for my tranny to go..

**but hopefully when my tranny goes bad i have some warnings,, like slipping or something- not just CABOOOM!

Automatic or manual tranny? When manual clutches finally reach the end of their life, there isn't too much warning (kind of caaaaaaaaboom), but automatics usually fail in stages (longer "ca" before the "boom"). I'm goin to be rebuilding a 5R55E here soon (it arrives tomorrow), so if you have questions, I'll try my best to help. I was thinking of doing a rebuild thread on the 5R similar to and linking to Glacier991's A4LD rebuild diary (which is a great thread IMO). Since you have the '98, that would be a 5R55E tranny if you have the automatic.

yea its the auto tranny.

depending on how much of a discount my buddy gets through jasper... a reman tranny from them is $2500... so id just buy one cause i dont have the time to rebuild.

ill deffinetally check out that thread though, id like to know "how " to do it
