I had a new engine put in about 3 weeks ago and ever since my X has been hesitating when I press the accelerator. It's not as noticeable when it's warm outside. I cleaned the MAS, and replaced the Air temp sensor (wasn't working right). Does anyone have any ideas?

Hesitation sounds more like too much fuel/not enough fuel getting to the engine.

Did you replace the engine with the exact model that you had before?

Try cleaning the IAC valve.. Take off the air intake hose right before it reaches the engine, and have a look in there. There should be something to the left of that on a spring mechanism that you can fiddle with to open and close the valve. Regular carb cleaner should do the trick if you're in a hurry, but it's best to take that completely off and give it a thorough scrubdown with some q-tips.

Or it might just be a dirty fuel filter.. If nothing else, I'd replace that and see how it works.

Goodluck.

The engine is the exact model as before. It's remanufactured from Jasper. I checked the fuel pressure and that is fine. I put in a new fuel filter in about 25,000m ago. Think it's time for new one? I will try cleaning the IAC and let you know how it goes. Thanks

I'm not very expierenced with cars and still learning. When I take off the intake hose I see a valve, but is this an IAC valve? IAC = Idle air control or something like that right? Or is this a throttle valve. Isn't there an idle sensor too? I've heard that might be a problem, where might that be located? Sorry so many questions! :) I like to learn.

Yep that's the IAC.. The sensor will be that black box with two screws holding it down.

How dirty did that flap look when you saw it? If it looks real dirty, cleaning that might solve your problems. I opted to unbolt mine and take it off so I could clean the whole thing easier without getting tons of carb cleaner in the intake.

Hopefully that's all it takes.. If not, let us know and I'm sure someone else can help you in more detail.

Goodluck!

Also you may want to get a new air filter.

If you can't remember when you replaced it, then it's time to drop in a new one.

That should help with some power (it can breathe again!) :p
