I've never considered myself an expert, but I've put a few engines in.........NOW CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!
Is there a secret to getting my pushrod 4.0 to match up to the a4ld? I replaced the pump seal on the tranny, slid my torque converter back into position, got the engine in, "started" the two top bolts to the bell housing and got the 4 nuts "started" on the torque converter......BUT for the life of me I can't get it any further. I've tried every combination of the lift on the engine and the jack under the tranny. I've rocked it back and forth, pryed and pryed. I turned on the crank, thinking the splines weren't quite right, that did nothing....HELP!!!

Any suggestions and/or past experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure the torgue converter is in the whole way? I know you said it is, but its the only thing i can think of.

I'm fairly certain, how could I tell?
Or do I just have to start over

I think you need to spin it and it needs to click in 3 times. Im not sure about that number though. Some please verify this for me.

Did you push in on the torque converter while you were spinning it on? Sometimes you have got to push the torque converter pretty good to get that last "click" out of it.

Try to get some bolts on the top and bottom of the bellhousing going before starting on the torque converter bolts.
It might be best to just pull the engine and trans apart a little and double check before trying to go on any further.

I pushed quite a bit, even took a rubber mallet to it while holding it centered. If the new seal I put in isn't the "right" one could this be holding me back? I would assume that if I get it to the second "click", I've already gotten through the seal.
