The engine is ready to go back in after being out for the timing chains, etc. I'm looking for any advice, suggestions, warnings about the process.

Also, I'm wondering if there is any benefit to filling the crankcase with oil before I install it. Would that show any leaks (hopefully there are none) or is there not enough oil pressure with an engine not running. I would think this would show obvious leaks anywhere below the oil level. If I do this can I put the engine in with the oil filter on or will it obstruct the install?

Thanks in advance for any input.

axis alignment

Try to support the engine on the crane so the axis of the engine aligns with the axis of the transmission. I removed the engine motor mount brackets from the block so I could just slide the engine back avoiding binding of the transmission shaft with the flexplate. Hook up the O2 sensor connectors when the engine is about 2 inches from the final position. Use heavy grease or very short bolts to keep the spacer plate from falling off the guide pins. when putting it back, rec. using a jack under your trans. raise your trans. tilt the motor slightly toward the rear. so it is at a light angle. make sure you torque converter is seated and line up the holes with your fly wheel before putting it in... Oh yea .... some other good advise...

DON'T DROP IT ON YOUR FOOT... HAHA
