Hello, i am new to this..... but i have read a few of the questions and answers, and this place seems helpful.. I am having trouble with my 98 explorer xlt.... a while back my car started spitting and sputtering, shortly after that started, my check engine light came on, we hooked my car up to a code scanner and it told us that the O2 sensors were bad. We replaced them, but it was still doing the same thing. we thought maybe the catalytic converters were clogged, so we gutted them... that still did not fix it. We have replaced the wires on the driver side(my husband saw them arching) But it is still spitting and sputtering..... it seems to only do it when i try to pull a hill... it jerks.... we checked the fuel pressure regulator, it was fine.... can anybody help me..... please.........

Thank you, and i am happy to be a member.

Hey BrooklynBay how do you clean the MASS AIR FLOW???

Because I my 1996 Ford Explorer is doing almost the same.

Cleaning Maf sensor

It just happens that I did that job today on mine and described it in my post in the uk members forum, have a look and come back if you have any problems- PLEASE PLEASE, be very careful and gentle when touching the metal filaments contained in the sensor- they can be damaged easily!
Good luck.
