engine missfiring then stalled????

My buddy has a 88 s-15 jimmy. He had the engine rebuilt not to long ago and it has been misfireing from time to time when the engine is cold. Tonight he was driving and it kept "missfiring" more and more till it completly shut off.

he said he replaced the spark plugs wires and distrib cap.

Any ideas??

Possibly a bad coil? may not be getting hot enough current to fire plugs... just a suggestion...

yeah that is what we were thinkin

we are going to check that out first then the plugs and wires

Thank you guys for your replys... It was the coil afterall! I tested the coil per Hayne's instructions, and it checked out, but I figured what the hell, I'll try a new one anyway. And it worked!!!
