engine noises

Hi,
newbee to this board. Just bought a 98' sport and have and need some anwsers to a tapping sound coming from the engine while under moderate accelleration. My friend who has a 99' sport brought it to my attention while driving around town. I just had it tuned and the oil changed and the noise is still there. It has 75000 miles. Is this a normal sound or is there any other problems? Seems like the faster I accellerate the louder and faster the noise gets. No engine check light is on and the shop couldn't pull up any trouble codes from it. Any expert advice is appreciated.

Which engine do you have? If the SOHC, it could be the timing chain..... there is a recall. lots of posts regarding it.

Hi,
The engine is the v-6 pushrod engine. It also has the "X" in the VIN number.
