I got a 91 xlt, 165,000 mi.I have noticed lately that when I am on the highway where I am going 60- 75 mph, and I accelerate, but the not enough to make the transmission shift that there is a little pinging noise. It seems like I only hear it when I am in overdrive, because I don't get it driving around town. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I suggest you turn up the radio. I had a similar problem on my 94 EB. I tried almost every suggestion I heard. It finally went away when I traded it in.

Hope you have better luck.

First, Welcome to the best Explorer forum in the world.

The pinging could be caused by a lot of things. You could try cleaning the MAS, cleaning the upper intake system and/or running a fuel system cleaner. There is a lot of discussion about this. You may want to try a search on "pinging". You'll find a lot of things to try that have worked for other.

Nekrub,
Get your EGR valve checked for proper operation. I had the same problem on my Ranger.
