2000 ford ranger 4wd
Hi My 2000 ranger 4wd 6 cyl flex fuel: is pinging bad when under load might need a tune up and id like to do it myself (ss check don't go far) can anyone tell me what all i need to change to get this done thanks

if your truck is pinging (assuming that's the noise you're hearing) a tune-up is not the solution. which 4.0L v6 do you have? if its the SOHC you might be hearing timing chain noise. pinging is caused by pre-ignition. this could be caused by carbon build-up or a bad knock sensor. have you tried using a higher grade of fuel? if you do and the noise stops then it's pre-ignition. if it's still there and could be something else.

If you're getting pre-ignition due to carbon build a Seafoam treatment should clear it up.
