engine pinging

when I start my 2000 x up it pings and knocks for a few seconds,it only does it when I am at work I don't know if it is because the parking lot slopes down and my front sits slightly higher than the rear

You have a SOHC right? If so, what you are hearing is probably the cam chain tensioners. Basically what it comes down to is Ford will fix it for free if your truck is under 72K miles. Search the site for alot more info. The name of the Ford program that covers the work is 00M12.
