hey i have a 93 XLT with about 270xxx miles on it... I am just waiting for it to blow up or something, the thing just wont die. But i use it as my daily driver i would like to prevent that from happening to me. So my question is if anyone has had their engine (4.0L V-6 EFI) rebuilt and about how much would that cost? Or would it be worth it to order a long block and use the combined knowledge of my uncle my dad and myself to put it all together, and what it takes? Or any other segustions??

PLEASE HELP!!

buying a long block?

A rebuilt long block will cost at least $1,000. You can buy another functional vehicle for less than it will cost for a rebuilt long block. You can buy a later model OHV out of a wrecked Explorer at an auto salvage yard for less than $500. It would probably cost more than $500 just for parts if you rebuilt your engine yourself. If you don't plan to increase performance significantly, want to save money, and avoid not having daily transportation just buy another vehicle and use the worst one for spare parts.

www.car-part.com you can look a local junk yard and find a motor and a price for it and it tells you how many miles on that motor

ok thanks. so it looks like ill be getting my hands dirty then :)
