If you PM me with your email I might have something that can help.

You really should have at least a Haynes or Chilton manual or an AllData subscription to walk you through the steps and give you specifications. I did stumble across this thread which links to this page with some useful pictures for the 302 disassembled.

Anote to you who are trying to do this .This is one of the worst motors that I have ever done and I have done alot of ford motors in 30+ years.

What was the worst part ? I just did the timing cover on mine and had all the front accessories off and compared to the 2 4.0s I did the previous week the exhaust manifolds looked uglier.

I've gotten everything disconnected from the motor as far as I can tell. And I can lift it up enough to clear the mounts, but just barely. Hoping someone out there would have some tricks!

What are you having trouble with ? Did you remove the exhaust manifolds from the engine bay or are they connected to the exhaust pipes ?

The drivers side manifold has been removed at the head (and disconnected at the pipe), the passener side is loose at the pipe. Should I have enough room to disconnect it from the tranny without removing the driveshaft and moving it back?

im sure this is late lol but i had massive problems removing the old engine. as it was siezed i couldnt undo the torque converter, the nut on the fan clutch was rounded off, si i had a really long engine to pull.
i undid everything from the engine, remove exaust, took out the bellhousing bolts, using the off-set ratchet box end wrench(fricken life saver)
i took off the transfer case cross bar thing and lifted the engine while lifting the front of the trans with a jack, enough to slide the engine forward, pulling the TC so as not to damage the splines, and then i angled it alot to get it out. ugh,not fun

I finally got it out, without removing anything but the torque converter and bell housing bolts. (Of course all the stuff that connects to the engine). There is one bolt on the top of the intake that was holding mine in, so with the help of a pry bar once it cleared that bolt it slipped out with ease. Now all I have to do is put the new (salvaged, it's for a 16 year old girl) motor in.
