Engine Squeak

2006 Ford Explorer

I have an intermitent squeaking sound coming from under the intake manifold.

Any ideas/suggestions on what might be the issue?

Are you sure its coming from under the manifold? I had this weird squeak coming from somewhere, and found out that it is the rear alternator pulley that is squeaking/squealing.

Hmm, defintly not from the front of the engine or the belts at all. Something at the rear of the engine... ?

My noise was coming from the back of the alternator. I was very surprised to hear it squealing/squeaking. I thought mine was coming from the intake or rear of the engine, but turned out to be the alternator. I would take the belt off the alt. and turn it clockwise and counter clockwise to see if you hear anything.

Mine squealed like a pig if I turned it counter clockwise and a bit clockwise. If anything we can eliminate that. You should check all other pulleys while you have the belt off.
