Hi All,
I have a '99 XLT with a 4.0 SOHC. It's just about to reach 100K. I'm not too sure how it was treated before me, but I've had it for a little over a year and a half now. I've had the oil changed once, new air filter, and new spark plugs/ wires. About a week ago, I was backing out my spot at work and it stalled on me. Kind of acted funny when I tried starting it backup again.
Today, I was coming home for lunch and was stuck in a bit of traffic. I forget what I did - either pump the brake or let off - and the truck lurched forward a bit then stalled.
It seems like the normal idle is 500 RPM. But at those RPM, this thing is rough and sounds like a smoker's cough. I've put some fuel injector cleaner in there previously, (maybe 5 times since I've owned it), but am wondering if there's something else I should be doing. I'm contemplating getting a 3rd Generation so I'm not too sure how much of a complete overhaul/tune-up I want to give it. But I do want it to be reliable. I bought some Seafoam but I can't imagine it will just be that simple.
Any thoughts what's going on?
Thanks
