I recently purchased a 2000 Explorer 4X4 with 90,000 km. It has one problem. After the truck is driven a long distance (150km), it tends to stall on braking. The RPM simply drops to stall revs. I have had the injectors cleaned. It improved the gas milage but did not solve the problem. Also, there is no engine warning light or codes in computer.

Anyone experience this??

Does it do this whether your foot is on the gas or not? Or only it idle? Just trying to help with a problem.

I may have the same problem as you. Last week after driving around town for about an hour, I exited the interstate and came to a stop. After a few seconds, the rpm's dropped and the truck stalled. After restarting and placing the tranny back in Drive, it continually kept stalling out. I finally was able to rev the engine enough to get the truck moving without stalling. I have talked with a couple people and one said that it may have something to do with the torque converter going bad or maybe the tranny. I've driven the truck for short periods since and have not had it happen again. I'm looking into it but if anyone has any ideas, let us know.

I have a 2001 Explorer Sport 4x4 (V6) with about 96,000 miles.

Clean the idle air control (air bypass valve), throttle body, mass air flow, and replace the fuel filter, and air filter.

BrooklynBay,

Thanks for the reply. I've changed or inspected all of those in the last 2 months. I had the famous 'Check Engine Light' and went thru everything until we found out it was a PVC inlet hose that was cracked underneath.:(

Anybody else have an idea?
