i have a stock 1992 xlt. the head gasket blew and im pretty sure some other thing are bad in the engine. i dnt wanna get rid of it and buy another car. how hard is it to take the engine out and stick a new one in it and where would be the best place to find a decent motor for a gppd price?

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 91-94 section. Make sure that you get the exact same engine so that you don't have to start swapping wiring harnesses, sensors, and other parts.
 






Well i found an engine out of the same explorer but that one was a 4x4 does that make a difference?
 












hi i have a 94 explorer xlt 4x4 i put a new engine in it but my torque converter will not rotate when installed it gets stuck noticed some damage on the torque converter shaft can any one tel me what to do?

It sounds like you don't have the converter seated all the way in the tranny,you need to get the engine and tranny loose it so it will turn and then turn and push...it will drop in place.

With the engine/tranny bolted together it should turn freely.:D
