Hey

My 97 Explorer XL's Engine Temp guage doesn't work (The top Left guage) It moves but not past "C", i'm thinking its the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Am i correct in thinking this or is there some other issue?

How's the heater output? If it's good'n hot then it's the sending unit over by the t-stat housing (on the 4.0 OHV).

If the heater is cold/cool after it's been running for 15-20 minutes then it's more than likely the thermostat.

You mean the gauge temperature sender, yes very likely. It has one wire. I would also replace the thermostat too if you have the OHV engine. Be sure to get one with a bleed hole or the motorcraft one.
