How accurate is the readings from an enhanced OBD II scanner for engine torque?

Never heard of it done that way, sounds interesting enough

Me neither. I was playing with my OBD II scanner ( enhanced ) today looking at the O2 sensor functions and came across this measurement.

al, did you try hooking it up yet and getting a reading?

Thats how I found this function .... during a test drive.

Its hard to monitor the scanner and watch the road, however, I did kick it in the arse and took a peek at the scanner and it was 220 something and climbing.

When Robert and I monitored mine it seemed grossly inaccurate on the small side.

Al, I asked Bill Miller how it was calculated about a year ago while I was at the AutoXray factory and he didn't know. I'm guessing it is a calculation based on several measured parameters. I have had mine peak at 287 ft/lbs.

Have you had yours on a Dyno? If so, how did it compare?

Thanks....

I think the max reading we got was 180 or something like that. I'd dynoed over 250 (wheels) and had done mods since. Might have something to do with my computer mods and tires, dunno.

For a stock vehicle the readings are fairly accurate. But, like Alec found out, the readings are un able to read properly if there is any type of aftermarket computer chip.
