2001 sport trac
Hey Guys,

My name is Ben and I'm brand new to the site. I bought a 2001 sport trac this morning from one of my best friends. long story short, he got a dui 3 months ago and won't be seeing the view from a drivers seat for quite some time. the truck is in immaculate condition but has not been started/driven in roughly two months. So i bought a brand new battery this morning, dropped it in, and expected her to crank right up. But to my dismay, it turns over enough to come just barely short of starting. I've exhausted every possibility and come to the conclusion that it's either the fuel pump, inertia switch, or the system is just locked. Any thoughts?

If you had a fuel problem, you could eliminate that possiblity by spraying some ether into the intake. but you spoke of the engine turning over slowly, thats not the fault of the fuel system, thats the fault of the starting system. verify your battery is charged 1st, then check for bad connections on down toward the starter. if you have been trying to crank it a bad connection should heat up due to the resistance in the circuit. look for corrosion around the battery cables, solenoid, starter and ground wire. Dont make that starter turn slow more that you have to cause it will heat up an go bad.
