Engine won't start...any ideas??

I have a 2004 4.0 4X4 explorer XLT and have a problem trying to get it to start. It cranks but boes not turn over. I replaced the alternator because it checked out bad, I also replaced out the coil pack because it also checked out bad. Any ideas as to what else it could be? I'm hoping it is not a fuel system issue (i.e. fuel pump). It seems it has chain reacted bad with those 2 components going out at the same time, right now I have the battery being charged and tested but I won't know the results till the morning when Auto Zone opens up. Please help, thank you in advance for your input and ideas /suggestions.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread to the stock 2002-2005 section. You hear the starter turning, but the engine is not turning? You might have a bad flexplate or starter gear.

Have you checked if you have spark? You could have bad gas too. Do you have any check engine lights on?

It sounds like when you first start your car in the morning where it cranks up for a second or two then in starts right up, instead it just sits there and just cranks and cranks away (I guess another way to describe it is like in the horror movies when someone is trying to run away from Jason and they are trying to start up the car but it doesn't fire up). I'll try to check to check to see if there is a spark a little bit later when I get off work.

I'm also trying to borrow a code reader so it could tell me what the code is, I hope I can get one.

Can you hear the fuel pump hum when you turn the key to the on position

You mean, you hear the starter, but the engine doesn't spin?

Or

The starter engages the engine, the engine spins, but never starts?
