So I searched these forums and found MANY threads on various HVAC issues, but noe quite like mine. Which was the fact that (ir)regardless of the fan speed setpoint, the motor would chose to change speeds erratically while driving or setting for that matter. It was more annoying than anything else.
After reading about all teh issues with other having 'stuck on high' type issues, I figured this one might be similar enough. So I indeed went and order a Blower Motor Control Module form an on-line retailer for near OEM cost ($55 shipped to my house). After a 5 minute R&R procedure the new controller has seemed to resolve all my issues with the erratic/uncontrollabe HVAC blower speeds.
A big thanks to this forum for at least heading me in the right and most economical direction!
