Error code P1400

My 2002 Explorer XLT has a service engine light and when it is diagnosed it shows the code P1400 which is the EGR valve. Can this be cleaned or is it best to replace it?

Replace DPFE to clear P1400 code

I has the same P1400 code show up on my 2002 Explorer EB (110k miles) last week. I replaced the DPFE sensor and no more code. $30 part from O'Reilly's and 15 minutes to install. It's often called an EGR Pressure Sensor. Unhook the battery, install the part, leave the battery unhooked for 10 minutes or so and once you reconnect everything, the check engine light should be gone.
