Does anybody have experience running sans transfer case shift motor? I've tried to rebuild it but evidently didn't do it right. just wondering if anyone has ever run without it. Will it screw me up?

I ran my 92 for years that way -- sold it to Jman and he is still running it that way.

Nothing at all will screw up -- just have to slide under the truck to shift it into 4x4. I used a small needle-nose Vice Grip. Grab the triangle shaft that sticks out of the t-case, and rotate it to the place where it clicks into gear (you will notice as it goes in).

An alternative is to make a manual linkage to shift it from inside the cab. I built one of those also, by cuttung apart the shift motor mechanism and attaching a flex cable to the part that rotates the t-case. There's a write up on the board here somewhere. Do a search.

If I were to do it again, I'd use 1/4" socket extensions and swivels to make a small driveshaft to twist the t-case. I may even make something up and sell it...

Nice

I'd much rather run that way. All that electrical mumbo jumbo can give one quote a headache.

thanks
