Everyones suggestion for the best oil type/wieght to use in your SOHC?

wow Its been 10 days,I bought my first home and moved in and I have been offline. I see all the replies lead me to make the change. When I first got my ex I changed the oil. Not sure of what was in it before I put dino oil in it. Then when cold I got the dreaded timing chain grind on the startup. Now I believe it may have had synth in it and I need to go back. Thanks for all the replies

When i got my typhoon i went with amsoil in the front and rear differentials and also in the transfer case. I didnt do the tranny yet which is on my list of things for this spring. I plan on doing this also on my x sport. The question i have is where are people buying the oil from? I bought mine from a website but i had to pay for shipping.

thanks

There is almost always a local dealer around, but if not, why not get in as a dealer.

Amsoil has a very easy entry-level dealership structure, where you don't have to keep any inventory, but you get to purchase all the stuff at dealer cost. Well worth it -- just sell a couple of buddies and your stuff will be close to free. Some dealers also have an adjunct dealership status (at least mine here in KY does) where you buy in at dealer costs for $10 and get dealer price, but are not an actual dealer. Again, that pays for itself on the first major swap over.
