This has happened since ... I can't remember when it hasn't happened :)

So, is this normal or has something worn out early? Basically, when I park, I come to a complete stop, put the gear selector in park and then release the brake. It seams like the car rocks forward about 6-10 inches before setteling in place (completely parked). Is this normal?

not 6-10 maybe 3-6 but not 6-10!!!! the pawl in your tranny is either going or your ebrake (if being used) isnt working properly

I rarely use the e-brake ... leads to rotor warpage with the way I drive :D

6-10 may be an exageration on my part, but it feels excessive ... might be 3-6 ;) BTW, what is a pawl?

there is actually a park gear in the tranny... and a special lever type thing that hits the park gear.... if the lever or the gear for that matter are failing, then there may be excessive play between the two.... if it isnt too much space though that it rocks... it may just be the pawl(lever thing) trying to find an appropriate spot on the gear to situate itself
