I'm getting ready to part with my beloved 1998 XLT Explorer, Dora with 296,000 miles.. just wondering, is that kind of mileage unheard of? And it still has the original engine?
The 4.0 OHV motors get quite a few miles on them as long as the heads don't get cracked (we rebuilt ours at 355k miles and I know we don't have anywhere near the most miles)
I haven't hear of too many 4.0 SOHC ones going that far as the timing chains/guides etc seem to let go way before then.
Either way, thats quite a few miles for any motor in this day and age. Most people don't take care of their vehicles and don't get anywhere near that kind of mileage..
