How does the 4.0 SOHC function with less back pressure? because (some of you may not like it, but i love loud exhaust) im going to put dual exhaust but not with flowmasters but with dual summit racing glass packs, no resonator, from the cat back. i will be doing this myself, just purchased a tubing bender from Harbor Freight for 50 bucks, the only thing that sucks is i dont have a MIG welder, only ARC. I ask about the back pressure because in my old XJ with the IL 4.0 it ran better with more back pressure.

Everything I've read on here and other boards points to the fact that you'll likely make noticably less low-end with the reduced back-pressure on the SOHC. True duals generally aren't a good idea on the SOHC. I suspect some of it can be regained if you went down to 2" or 1.75" tailpipes, but that's just speculation on my part.

Well this has been discussed to death. But here's my $.02. It moves the torque peak to a higher RPM when you lessen the backpressure. Your motor becomes more efficent because you've lessened the amount of power it takes for it to run. It seems to me that to do this to a SOHC would be playing right into the engines design as OHC models develop more power at higher RPMs anyways. So take it for what its worth.
