On my '94 Ex. I am going to be putting on a Flowmaster 50 delta and tried searching but could not find an answer to my question. My question is would I notice any difference in sound or performance with the dual out compared to a single out? I am having it done at a shop and am not sure which would be best for my 4.0 OHV.

Oh ya, where would be the best place to have the pipe/pipes exit (rear, side?) Thanks in advance!

I have a dual exit which is mostly just to stand out from the other Xplorers in my area. I dont think sound would be much different and performance wise you wouldn't lose anything. I would say the best place to have the pipe or pipes exit would be the rear. just my 2cent

i went with the flowmaster 40 series with duals out the back. sounds gooooood.

Yeah i would also go with 40's they sound much better

I've heard a dual on 4.0 OHV is a no-no (lost of low end torque). Well, unless you run 2" piping. Even that is a borderline.

I was thinking about going with a 40 but where I do about a total of about an hour a day 5 days a week of highway driving and have heard about the drone that comes with the 40 at highway speeds. I want it to sound good, but don't want a headache. anybody by any chance have a sound clip of either the 40 or the 50?

mine sounds stock at 40+, only when you are accelerating or putting it to the floor does it come alive. only thing i get a headache from is loud music:D

i have a 40 series with dual outs and love the sound. i still have my spare in the factory location so i have quite a few bends in the drivers side pipe. someone was telling me i should have used 2.5" rather than the 2.25" that the muffler shop used. either way it sounds good, especially while in third gear with the engine at about 2k rpm. the drone inside at highway speeds is fine to me, my wife also likes the way it sounds and it has yet to give either of us a headache. we've had the pipes for almost two years now i think.

Thanks a lot man, glad to hear from someone with the 4.0 OHV. Think I will probably go with the 40 delta with dual outs straight out the back. Hopefully it will look and sound badass!!
