One of my next mods will be exhuast, for my 5.0L. I think that I plan on going with a magnaflow muffler and that is about as far as I am at right now. I know that alot of people swear by keeping it just single exit and not to big of pipe to keep the lowend torque but I have a huge problem with things that are not simetrical (spell check needed lol), so I kind of want to run duals but then again I am not a fan of pipes running straight out the back, I would at least want to have them turn out behind the rear wheels. Then I got to thinking what about having it run out of the lower quater panel behind the wheel kind of like CougarX's sporttrac http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148237
Will the exhaust tip get to hot and melt the fender?
Could I wrap header tape around the tailpipe and part of the tip to help keep it insulated while still being non-visible?

Stylin Concepts makes a tip for applications like this but it is a dual exit tip such as this...http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts.aspx?partfamilyid=666&CategoryID=28&SubcategoryID=162 and I only want one per side
Does anyone know of a company that makes a product similar to this but with one one tip exit?

Thanks for any/all help!

First off where i come from everyone calls that part of the quater panel (the fenders are up front). second no it wouldn't melt it, it might discolor the paint but not melt. third those stylin truck tips are freaking exspensive ($700)

Quater panel thats the words I was looking for...its been a long day and mind on other things (gosh I'm hungry)....And I know at first I was just using the picture to show what I mean't but then I was like "hmm...I wonder what two would look like" and checked out prices  can't member now but it was like 1000.00 before and now it is on clearance sale <-- not that great of a sale cause just for that, $700

If you want it to be symmetrical, you could dump the exhaust after the muffler, have no tips showing anywhere.

Yeah, that is also one of my options but I don't want more inside noise then needed but I may just do that and then if it is to much noise then run it out all the way...

Thats not exactly the safe or smart way to do it. Keeping the heat from your exhaust under your truck heats up your gas (warmer gas = less power) your brakes and everything near it making things less efficiant, if anything i'd run it out the side atleast but that takes some extra bends to get around the frame
if you're lifting your truck up i wouldn't worry as much but thats up to you

Very nice lookin ex by the way!

Thanks, I went to local exhaust guy to talk to him and see what he thought was do-able...This whole idea of exiting out of lower quater panel came a bit quick without me checking into it to far...With the 2" body lift it puts my frame right in the way of where I wanted to go...So I am just going to have duals that dump out on the sides right behind the tires but not through the body, but rather right under...for now I am just going to have pipe and no tips yet...not sure what I want to go with and maybe just run pipes w/o tips

I checked out your cardomain page and the whole time while I was looking at it I kept thinking that you stole my page, lol....Some of the side shots look so similar to mine.....But hey, Great minds think alike right?

Thats exactly what i was thinking too when i looked at yours! I like how your 33s look, im getting 32s really soon.
