I'm finally getting round to changing the gearbox. I've got the left side exhaust off the manifold thanks to an oxy turbo gas set to heat the bolts and they came out easily.
The right side just won't budge. I don't want to snap the bolts because of limited space to drill out and re-tap.
I've had the bolt and manifold glowing red but still it won't shift!!
Any brainwaves????

Thanks Kev.

I think I got lucky but i did use lots of 3 in 1 penetrant for a couple of days. Then first tighten a touch loosen a touch and so on. Took me a couple of hours on one side using a 2ft breaker bar.
Good luck

Cheers Jan. I'm using a 2ft breaker bar and i've used some "shock and unlock" spray. I'm sure the bolt head has moved an eighth of a turn but not the thread!!
I've soaked the bolt for tonight. Gonna use my air hammer on it tomorow and just keep my fingers crossed.

Hi kev ..had same problem !

I took it off with the manifold 1st time round ..and got the bolts taken out by an exhaust shop

2nd time I left it in .. there is room to remove / fit it while its in

good lluck fella

Ay up Rich. Nice to hear from you.

Thanks for the info. I watched a youtube clip that showed heating the bolt and manifold to red hot whilst someone else was trying to turn the bolt. It worked for them.
Gonna try that first. If it breaks its nice to know that the manifold will come out.

Thanks mate.

Kev glad yoyr getting it on .... (;

Just re read my my post..just to be clear Kev you can remove and refit the trans with the R/H (lol not left) pipe still on (drivers side) .. bit tight to get at the trans / engine bolts if I recall..

you have to unbolt the steering shaft jobber with the gaiter to get it out ..if u undo manifold

I changed the exhaust bolts for new and they were seized the 2nd time just as bad ...on the right ..Duncan advised I could leave it on if I recall...

hope it goes smooth ...

Cheers Rich. Its the right one thats stuck. The left cat is all unbolted and loose but not enough room to get it out. Going to have to remove the short section on the left cat or jack up box now and remove the gearbox support.
Kev.
