what is the best exhaust setup for a 4.0L Explorer?
and is there any way to buy pre-bent pipes (single or double...doesnt matter I jus want it out the back) for a 91 explorer to make the exhaust go out the back...or is there any way to bent the pipes yourself

um im running 2 1/2 inch no cats...well i cut off the second one and put a pipe through the first one and a flow master and it sounds great with reasonable power gain.i bought some bends from summit racing online but im sure you can go down to a local muffler shop and tell them what you wanted. good luck!

do you have duals or single?
and how did you know what bends to get?

Flowmaster

The Flowmaster catback system is a good one. It is part number 17227 for 4 doors and 17246 for 2 doors.

Flowmaster for Sport

Second that. Depends on what your looking for, but I just installed the unit on my old Sport. Mellow sound, which is what I wanted, bends and fit were generally good. Directions a little off with regard to one clamp but no biggie. Uses 50 SUV series- not light.

well haha i didnt exactly know my friend had a bunch of random U and J bends but i used maybe two or three J's and a U or part of one but thats if you want it to come out the original place. my shoots straight out not down

I just received my Gibson catback system today. It should bolt on after removing the old pipes and muffler. I'm hoping to install it today. It produces a mellow sound and minimal cab noise with the target improvement in the 1800-3000 rpm range. I wanted to go for a Flowmaster 70 or 50 series, but they don't make a bolt on system for my truck. This is a good system.

you've got a lot more options going to a quality muffler shop. All you have to do is pick out the muffler you want to use and determine if you want the shop to mandrel or crush bend your custom exhaust. I run a bassani muffler on my explorer and love the way it sounds.
