So I have a 96 Eddie Bauer 5.0 that a scrapper took the saw to the exhaust. I’ve found a donor that’s got a full exhaust, but it’s a 97 5.0 with the GT40P heads. I have GT40 heads on this truck. Will this work? It’s complete ready to bolt on, I just need to know if it’ll bolt on.

I put the later cast-iron style manifolds on my 96 5.0 Explorer, which came with the early tubular style manifold. It fit fine except that I had to cut/weld the oil dipstick tube. So I think it would work but I am not positive.

how did you handle the EGR port? Side note entirely but if that worked out that’ll work for me. I hate aftermarket cats because they never seem to work out exactly right.

I think I made a blanking plate. Honestly, I don't remember, it's been awhile. My vehicle had the internal EGR port through the intake manifold, not sure if that's what your asking.

im thinking that’s what mine has. You’ve answered my question though so I appreciate it. Shame a scrapper got to the car. At least nobody chopped it down for a Mustang project or something like that. 141K miles is barely broken in.

Just put a plug in the EGR port on the pass exhaust manifold
Otherwise it will bolt up
The difference between gt40 and p heads is the angle of the spark plug, so you might have to use wires with a 45 degree boot, that is all it takes
I have used GT40p manifolds and headers on GT40 heads more then once.

the factory 5.0 exhaust is pretty nasty, while you have the chance you should consider ditching the secondary cat converters, the factory muffler and the resonator after the muffler.......lol

I might, I debated having an aftermarket setup run. The truck had a Flowmaster Super 10 on it which is still there but very rough. Whole reason they parked it is the front seal in the trans is leaking. It's a decent truck all in all, just no exhaust on it.
