i posted a previous time about cat-back exhaust and i am kind of confused. should i purchase a $250 gibson cat-back exhaust system off of the internet or should i take it to a dealer and get them to build one for me?(if you can do that, i thought i read someone saying you could do that for like $200???) i am not an expert on this topoc, as you can tell, and i need some help.

I highly recommend a local muffler shop make a custom cat back for you.

Mine cost $200 and was well worth it/

why do you recomend a local place doing it for you? couldnt you just order it online and then have a shop install it for you? i found this site:

there they have all kinds of exhaust systems. if i was going to buy one, which would you recomend? (i would have to save up some more to afford the expensive ones, but i have like $250, around there)

Try driving down Richmond between Hillcroft and Fondren. Close to Fondren there's a row of warehouses with a few exhaust shops. I've had a friend use the one with the huge Flowmaster out from and he liked them.

I recommend getting a 2.5 or 2.25 Magnaflow (or quiet Flowmaster) muffler and a custom 2.25" tailpipe. Works really well for me.

i just did the dynomax catback system#17415 - i like it, but it's really all personal preference(noise wise) mine's not to loud until you get on it, and i paid $104 from www.summitracing.com had to buy spring bolts and an o-ring from the installer, $185appx complete installed, all manderal bent pipes - nice system. there seems to be alot of different views on this topic(i know i read a ton of them - build your own vs. predesigned) for me i liked the idea that my system was designed for my truck, just my .02

I got mine done for $250 total. Buy the muffler you want and take it to a muffler shop and have them weld you a nice setup. I have a pics link in my sig with some exhaust pics.

I just jumped on this custom exhaust thing here lately. I have been looking for a muffler online thinking for sure that it would be cheaper online and then take it to a shop. Finally I went to a local shop that quite a few local guys had recommended and the guy gave me a better deal on the exact muffler I wanted than summit racing. I am getting from the cats back. A Flowmaster 50 series with 2-1/4 pipes exitting at a 45 degree angle on the right side. This guy even through in a Chrome tip for free. Total muffler and install $170.

Just go talk to some local guys. I was totally surprised.

Hell yea, that dual exhaust on the V-8 1999 was badass. Where did you get it?

I just recently got a flowmaster cat-back from Dead Link Removed which included everything for like $125. A couple of friends and I installed it in like 2 hours, pretty easy to do, and it is pretty cheap that way too. Just my 2 cents.

If you are taliking about my setup, I bought two 40 series single in/single out Flowmaster mufflers from Summit for $60ea, then had a local muffler shop weld them in and install some 2 1/2" pipes with 3 1/2" chrome tips. The pipes and welding cost $100 and the tips were $30, so total was $250. Its the best way to go really. Pick a muffler you like, buy it and take it to a muffler shop.
