You have all kinds of options, muffler options as far as brands the main ones are Flowmaster, Magnaflow, and Gibson. Rather than buying an exhaust system you should just buy a muffler online or wherever then take it to an exhaust shop where they weld it up for you rather than just using clamps.

As far as deep throaty sound, I'm gonna say Flowmaster makes the deepest throatiest sound, especially compared to the Magnaflow which I have right now and is not very loud. Flowmaster single chamber 40 series would provide qutite a grumble.

For pipe sizes, stock on mine was 2 inch, you can go anywhere between 2 and 2.5 inches comfortably. 2.25 would probably be ideal and would just open it up a little more.

I have the Flowmaster 50 series 2.25 pipe with my 4.0.The sound is not to loud inside.I have a K&N intake also and the power is great on the highway to Las Vegas when going up the hills.Next i'm going with the 40 series, its a louder muffler. :afro:

How much is a flowmaster 50 series usually? i am looking for deals because i am in the process of getting some wheels ant tires also. money is tight. :chug:

I got mine for $98 shipped from Summitracing.com. Then spent another $150 for installation and 2.5 in. exit pipe.

I just orderd my 50 series for $59.99 on ebay and found a bunch of places that had them for $85.00 I got my locan muffler shop to give me a quote on how much they would charge to install it and they said $35.00 im gonna have them do it because last time i welded a muffler on my truck i burned myself prety bad and didnt weld it very well. but i think i got a hell of a deal on that muffler :chug:

I think ideally one should use 2.5 from the cats back, I have a magnaflow that I believe is less restrictive than the flowmaster, to my taste it is perfect as far as sound level, I get no drone at higeway speeds.
Also IMO if you go to loud with a V6, it starts to sound ricey

I have a Magnaflow Muffler on my 1993 4.0L V6 Explorer. It has that throaty sound when you accelerate and isn't loud when it is just idling. I would definetly recommend this to anyone. If you want to see it, you can go to http://www.cardomain.com/id/bmxking5. It's on pg.3.

hey BMX nice ex i've seen that cardomain before,
