I want to remove the 2 cats i have left on my explorer , will it hurt my engine to literally straight pipe it . no muffler no catalytic converters , i dont mind having the CEL light on . 04 4.6

You can, but it will sound like crap (opinion). My friends son did his, than ended up putting free flow cats on and performance mufler with a little bigger I.D. pipe. Can't say if it runs better, but it does have a better sound.

I have the front two still on but the rear gone, and a Flowmaster Super 44 muffler. I've been considering hollowing out the front two and doing the "mini-cat" O2 sensor bypass so I don't get a check engine light

I've heard plenty of completely straight piped trucks to know it'll sound horrible and the drone will drive you insane. At the very least, I'd do some Flowmaster Flow FX mufflers to cut back on the drone. It'll still be loud, but it won't be horrible to live with
