I was looking at pictures from the Pennsylvania Turnpike pileup. On of the pictures showed an SUV that was squeezed between a semi and the concrete divider. You could plainly see the tailgate of that vehicle was open.

It was obviously the only way that passengers in that vehicle were going to exit it.

My question is, can you open the tailgate of a 2006-2010 Explorer from inside the vehicle?

I have only owned my 2006 for a little over a month, so there is much I do not know about it.

Popped the tailgate window with the fob?

Juggling more fur balls than a constipated cat.

Either that or you could just kick out the glass part. But there is no provision to open it from inside unless like Armadillo said with the key fob

....Popped the tailgate window with the fob?....

Good point but doesn't that just pop the glass? Also, for that matter I wonder if there is a button on the dash to pop the rear hatch like the button for the trunk on my wife's Lincoln LS?

Pop the glass w remote fob or reach out driver window and enter your code and pop rear window. Then if necessary, reach out and pull handle for main tailgate with doors unlocked
