I recently bought a ford explorer 2013.
I have the basic radio version of the MYFORD radio. There is a phone button and this button should leads to phone pairing if I understand correctly.

Sadly it I stuck at "phone is muted" but it is wrong because no phone is connected to it ... I tried to search for it on Bluetooth and I dont see the signal. I also tried to reset the terminal by holding the radio power and seek-forward ... Nothing happened.

Finally, I had to go to the fuse box so I removed it and placed it back 20 sec. Later... This only caused to lose my radio preferred settings and time and date. Phone was still muted.

Anyone had that issue?

Welcome to the Forum.
What happens when you press the 'phone' button? Do you get the message "No phone is paired"?

I'd assume the phone muted message is how it's supposed to be because there's no phone paired.

Next I would investigate why you can't get a phone to pair. I don't know the answer to that, vaguely recall when I got my '14 that I had a problem pairing phones but forget why. After a few tries it worked, and never had a problem again when removing old phones and pairing newer phones that replaced them. However my '14 had the fancier version of the dash module offered at the time that runs Ford Mytouch Sync/whatever those are called as an entire module. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Was it a police interceptor utility, many of them come with a "non-sync" system, in which case they don't have bluetooth, I don't remember the exact message they give when you push the phone button but that may be it.

Any update on this??

Hello. So finally... I figured out that this car was a base model and the Phone, Sirius and dialpad are "poor man's buttons". Meaning that they are there, but not activated. I find that a bit crazy that in 2013 a base model did not have Bluetooth but I am over it. I've been using a Bluetooth FM transmitter since. It's working fine.

Thank you all
