Explorer 4x4 problem.

hey this is my first post on the forum and im about to turn 16, i got my first car a few weeks ago its a 93 explorer 4x4 eddie bauer edition 2dr with a 4.0 liter engine and the 4x4 isnt working when i press the button i here a click coming from the back and nothing happens the light doesnt even come on, what could be the problem is it the driveshaft shift motor????

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 91-94 section. Check your fuses, and the switch. Sometimes it could be a bad module or the shift motor. Check the sticky threads on the top of the transmission section for more information.
 


















lol start reading :) I just turned 16 this last June and I swear I've read more in the last few months than I have my whole life... And just on this forum lol. There are so many different things, each with their own way to accomplish them, and their almost ALL discussed somewhere on this sight.

I also had the exact same problem. Get under your truck and remove the shift motor. It's attached to the back of the transfer case. There's a full How To guide here, just search Shift Motor Rebuild and look through them. Inside the shift motor is a small bushing that is needed to control the rotation of the gears. I bet its broken like mine causing the computer to get confused and shut down. That's why u hear clicking but nothing happen after.
