A guy that I am dating took mr for a ride on his swamp buggy over the weekend. This was a lot of fun. We went into lakes, mud and places I don't think anu Ex could go. What do you guys think of a swamp buggy vs an Ex?

swamp buggies are way cool for the swamps...but what about the street or rockcrawling...then the X would really win. the x is a multipurpose vehicle and the swap buggy is just that a swamp buggy

DEFINITELY Cool.

There's something about mud and the little boy in all of us (males) that never grows up.

I hunt ( Quail and Snipe ) from a buggy each season here in sunny Florida. I am impressed with what this buggy can do. I don't know the specs on what it was made from; it does have 2 transmissions. I just know that you need a darn ladder to get in it. The tires are about 5 feet tall and the seating area is about 10 feet off the ground.

This thing will go where no sane person should venture. I hve never seen any 4x4 vehicle out in the swamp where the buggies go.

Do you off-roaders think you could go where the buggies go?

And yes, we have got it stuck before….

Those buggies are somethin, aren't they?
Julie - does this mean you might actually join us for one of our outings in the mud with your explorer? Our next run will be around June 16th in Inverness...
Al - if you are aournd please join us - that goes for anyone wanting to make the trek to central Florida...

Thanks for the invite, but I don't take my truck into the woods.

What if the swamp buggy was a Ford?

Cameron,
All beit that that is one cool rig, it would sink about 50 feet into the crap down here! I should get a pic of my neighbor's buggy - they are built tall to go through some serious crap. His stands on 4'+ tires, is an old cherokee with virtually no body left and has made crssoing in excess of 5' deep - these things are insane!

Many real buggies are built on Ford frames.

The "buggie" in the picture would never make it in the swamps.; the tires on most buggies are taller than that "buggy". It looks more like one of the old dune buggies.

AAww

I want one of them.....that is really cool..... !!! Even if I couldn't buy it I would love to try it out!!

Nobody has answered Julie about the Explorer vs a buggie.

Can the off road trucks go where the buggy goes? I say definately NOT ( but I know little about off road Explorers ).

What do you think?????????

id like to see a pic of one of these swamp buggy machines, anybody got one???

Julie (and Al)
About the only explorer I know of that could challenge a true swamp buggy would be Oknut's rig...

I've been seqarching for 1/2 hour for a good pic of a non-racing swamp rig to no avail - sorry guys. The best way to describe a non-racing buggy is a farmall tractor, 4x4 on serious steroids!

The elusive SEARCH functions is once again functioning. I found his truck' an impressive looking ride.

Still not sure it can go where the buggys go.

Ask away. my friemd. the only dumb question is the one never asked.

These buggies are used for hunting and for exploring the swamps. They are driven on access roads, but most have no brakes.

They will go darn near anywhere.

here ya go www.colliermuseum.com/Archive/swampbuggy.html also try www.swampbuggy.com I know from my own personal experience that our explorers were not made for this, and will never come close to matching the swampbuggy..We are limited by tire size..

Thanks for posting these links, however, these are the racing buggies not the hunting variety. The hunting buggies look a lot different, but you do get the idea,

I can't find a picture of one.....
