Participants needed for Heads-Up Display (HUD) Usability Testing in Detroit

DATES:
Detroit: February 1 – February 3 (Wednesday – Friday)

Do you have a Heads-Up Display installed in your Explorer?

Are you interested in participating in a usability testing that will affect how Heads-Up Displays will be designed in the future?

We need about one and a half hour of your time to give us feedback about the usability of a new generation of HUDs. Participants will be paid $125 for their time.

If you are interested reply to this post or send an email to sokol@ergolineus.com with your phone number.

You will be contacted by a screener, who will ask you some questions to make sure that you fit in the users’ profiles we are looking for. We will then contact you with a precise schedule.

Join the Elite Explorers for $20 each year or try it out for $5 a month.

Elite Explorer members see no advertisements, no banner ads, no double underlined links,.

what is it?

Seems a bit fishy here. If someone finds it to be legitimate, give me a heads-up?

Oh, and when the $125 arrives let us all know too.

I would jump all over this if I lived in Michigan. Sounds like it could be interesting and I wouldn't be so quick to knock it until I researched it.

When I was 15 I participated in a paid program to evaluate video games. I was approached at a video game room, given a business card and a time and place to go to and I was paid $100 to play games and evaluate them.

I say CHECK IT OUT!!

OK. Sorry for the cynicism; I'll try to be more open minded; just got off a Mustang site where this thinking is the usual. :o

From Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heads-up_display

A Head-Up Display, also known as a Heads-Up Display or simply HUD, is any type of display that presents data without blocking the user's view. This technique was pioneered for military aviation and is now used in commercial aviation, motor vehicle and other applications.

There are two types of HUD:

* Fixed, in which the user looks through a display element attached to the airframe or vehicle chassis. Commercial aircraft and motor vehicle HUDs are of this type. The system determines the image to be presented depending on the orientation of the vehicle. The size and weight of the display system can be much greater than in the other type which is:
* Helmet-mounted, or head-mounted, in which the display element moves with the user's head.

The 1989 Maxima had one for showing MPH. I think Cadillac, or some other company has one that is like night vision displayed on the windshield. You could see the road, only with an overview of the actual road that is a night vision image. It's like an overlay of an image.

Sounds like a heck of a deal if i lived in Detroit. I have been involved in a few things like this before. Delphi Delco (makes radio's and electronics) is in Kokomo, IN and has done testing like this before, its actually kinda neat to test and see new equipment!

I have been part of testing for the seats that remember your position and weight for air bag deployment. It also remembers where you have positioned the seat in the vehicle so you can recall you settings. There has been testing on new radio's and what not, giving your imput about them. Usually most of this has been about 2-5 years before the actual product has came to market.
